Chantasana: Evoke Ma Durga @ The Chantlanta Sacred Music Festival

  • Church at Ponce & Highland 1085 Ponce De Leon Avenue Northeast Atlanta, GA, 30306 United States (map)

Join Shonali Banerjee in a uniquely potent practice honoring Goddess Durga. Ma Durga is a powerful central goddess figure in the Hindu tradition, and it is said that by chanting her name her attributes are brought forward within the practitioner and into the world. Durga uses her great power to fight negative forces in the world and protect her people from evil. Evoking this goddess awakens and encourages the rising of divine feminine energy.

Inspired by Shonali's studies with TKV Desikachar, practitioners can expect to link the chanting of Durga mantras with a series of postures, movement & visualization. The overall practice is aimed at development of breath, focus and energy expansion. The layering of your own voice with your asana practice brings forth a unique quality of presence and empowerment. This multi-dimensional practice also incorporates 7 chakra energy centers. The effects of this practice are centering and powerful. Shonali will sing you into a blissful savasana.

Open to all levels, ages 12+. Please bring a yoga mat.
